The economic system of government interference or involvement in any
economic activity is known variously, as socialism, communism, fascism
or (state) capitalism — as opposed to free market capitalism. There is
no
country
today with a
free market. This is a very important kind of oppression by the state,
because all the resources used to perpetrate every other act of oppression,
from civil liberty violations to genocide, come from the taxation of
private prosperity.
A site which cannot be recommended too highly as a resource about
economic freedom. It is named for a great economist and quiet activist
for liberty. Includes many articles on current issues, as well as online
theory by Mises and other economists of the Austrian (individualist
free market) school, a tradition of subjective human action standards
for value instead of the objectifying mathematical models typical of
statist economists. This is the best single resource for competent
information
with which to
challenge
the
proponents
of
economic
control
in all forms (whether labeled fascism, socialism, corporatism, or
capitalism).
Learn about US taxation at the national and state levels from the
nonpartisan Tax Foundation, which is focused on education and action
through conventional political processes. Particularly interesting
is their calculation of how much of each year is spent working to pay
taxes.
